Hunting for Easter Eggs
I went to the gym today and happened to be there during the same time they were hosting an Easter egg hunt for kids. There were probably about 15 kids, most about 4 years old. The eggs were hidden all over the first floor, mostly in the weight rooms. I saw the kids searching for eggs and heard that they were only allowed to find 12 each, so every kid had a chance to find some. It was clear that the rule was necessary because I saw a few of the older kids running around and filling their baskets within minutes while some of the younger ones spent the entire time and came back with only 2 or 3 eggs. There was one little boy who was probably about 3 years old and was searching around with a few other kids. He didn’t seem to be very good at finding eggs since all the other kids had more than him. Finally, he found one and exclaimed with such pride and delight,
“I found one!”
One of the other boys leaned toward him and said in response,
“Here, you can put it in my basket!”
I almost laughed out loud, it was so funny. Finally, the kid finds an egg and his friend wants to take it from him! However, in the other kid’s defense, he was especially cute and he seemed genuinely concerned about helping his friend by holding the egg for him in his basket. =)
